"Purpose Not Perfection"

Presenter
Rev Danielle Di Bona
Date

Hello to our friends and family,

Joining us on Sunday, March 28th, is the Rev Danielle Di Bona. Her sermon is titled “Purpose Not Perfection”. The poet Amanda Gorman writes: "we are not striving to form a union that is perfect. We are striving to forge a union with purpose.”  Unitarian Universalists often get stuck in the perfection cycle which often prevents both a faith filled communal spirit and relationship. Let's focus on building relationships for the good of our communities.

The Reverend Danielle Di Bona has served Unitarian Universalism for 30 years, and is the 2018 recipient of the Award for Distinguished Service to the Cause of Unitarian Universalism. She is the 2004 recipient of The Melvin Hoover "Beloved Community Award" for outstanding service to Communities of Color in Unitarian Universalism. In her retirement, Rev. Di Bona serves as the Palliative Care chaplain at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth, MA

She has served as a member of the UU Nominating Committee and on the Unitarian Universalist Women’s Federation board. She recently provided AR/AO/MC support to the GA Planning Committee. Rev. Di Bona is the former President and Vice President of the Diverse and Revolutionary Unitarian Universalist Multicultural Ministries, and continues to serve DRUUMM as Chaplain.

Rev. Di Bona also serves on the Board of the Church of the Larger Fellowship. She is a Chaplain to the UUA Board of Trustees and Finding Our Way Home.

Danielle identifies as bi-racial. Her father was born in Italy and came to the United States when he was 7. Her mother was Wampanoag, a tribe that has lived on the south shore of Massachusetts for thousands of years.

When not serving the UUA, the church and the community, Danielle describes herself as “retired.” In her retirement she trains and shows her dogs and had the honor of showing Rozi (Champion Blue Ridge Vista Csendes) and Aldas (Blue Ridge Vista Aldas) at the  Thanksgiving National Dog Show in Philadelphia and Westminster in Manhattan.
