"The Experience of Privilege”

Presenter
Dr Michael Boudria
Date

The common denominator behind the 2020 protests and sharp divisions across  the nation is the question of privilege in an unfair power hierarchy. But what is privilege? Dr. Mike Boudria suggests that privilege is rooted in experiences; to  have or not have privilege in society is to have one set of experiences and not another. In this sermon Dr. Boudria defines privilege as experience as well as the  caveats that define the experiences of privilege on both ends; the irrelevancy of  choices, the absence of parallelism, the inability to have justice or revenge, and  the determination of the narratives of experience. Finally, Dr. Boudria will discuss that the elimination of privilege hierarchies is not just through a process of synthesis but of irrelevancy of the privileged experience itself.
