On Sunday, April 28th, at 10:30 AM, Dr Michael Boudria rejoins us with a sermon titled - “The Four Types of Service” -
Dr Boudria discusses the four different ways we are called into spiritual service of others and the community; The Return to the Cave, The Mission, The Crusade, and The Exodus. First, Dr. Boudria will discuss the meaning of service in general as it pertains to the Second Principle of Unitarianism; Justice, Equity, and Compassion in Human Relations. He will discuss that the true nature service is in the spiritual transformation of another and that its antithesis is exploitation. Dr. Boudria will then showcase how the four types of service differentiate from each other exemplify transformation with historical or mythological narratives as well as showing their anti-service versions as means of exploitation. Finally, the sermon will end on a personal discussion of which calling to service one hears and what calls to service the Unitarian Universalist Church as a whole should listen for.
