Hello to everyone,
We are open and growing again. We hope to see more of you on a Sunday morning so that we can enjoy each other in person. Come to church this Sunday, November 28th at 10:30 AM. Our guest speaker, Rev Nicholas Boke is the former minister of the First Universalist Parish of Chester, Vermont, and has spoken from several dozen UU pulpits in New England and beyond. He currently works as an international education consultant in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. He lives in Chester, Vermont, with his wife, Buffy, who recently retired from her ministry at First Parish Unitarian Universalist in Canton, MA.
Today’s Sermon: “I Was Taught What To Believe”
Rev Nick Boke will talk about the concept of belief. The idea for the sermon arose as he read a college essay written by a young Lebanese woman whom he is helping get accepted by American Universities. The essay began “I was taught what to believe,” which got him to thinking about how any of us comes to believe anything that we believe. And how these beliefs may—or may not—change over time, or deepen, or disappear. He will, of course, talk about what criteria any of us has for what we are willing to believe.
We will attempt to simulcast our service via Zoom. For those participating by Zoom, the experience will be different than previously. The hymns and other material will not be on the screen, and those present in the sanctuary will not be able to see or hear you. If you have an Announcement or a Joy or Concern to share, you should communicate it in advance to someone who will be physically present.
