Joining us on Sunday, December 23rd at 7:30 pm for The Traditional Christmas Candlelight Service will be Richard Trudeau. He will be leading us with "A service of readings and carols with special music for all ages" so that families can enjoy Christmas Eve at home. This year’s focus will be on the version of the Christmas story found in Chapter 1 of the Gospel according to Matthew." There will not be a regular service on this Sunday morning.
Joining us at 10:30 AM on December 16th is Rev Doug Wilson. The sermon is titled "Love Lives at the Heart of the Universe".
Rev Wilson was born in Vancouver, B.C. in 1946. His present life is shaped and framed in six questions. Why is war? Where is justice? Which work is mine? What is real? Who am I? Who are you? Since the end of the Second World War, the use of nuclear weapons has been unthinkable, and yet we stand again on the precipice of their use as our President speaks of "limited" nuclear weapons. Today we explore the implications of such weapons and the responsibility of all sane people to reject and resist allowing these weapons to become a reality.
Joining us on November 25th at 10:30 AM, is Rev Lilia Cuervo, a native of Colombia, who is the first Latin American woman to be ordained in the Unitarian Universalist denomination. Our Sermon for this week is titled "Gratitude". Throughout millennia, gratitude has been considered one of the essential disciplines of human flourishing. Let us reflect on the importance of cultivating and practicing this foundational quality, not just on Thanksgiving, but throughout our whole lives.
Daniel Lawlor joins us on November 18th with a sermon titled“Love and Fear.” A meditation on how a focus on love changed the life of a congregation in an old neighborhood in San Francisco. Daniel is a divinity student and is a former public school teacher here in Fall River, Massachusetts, and is a big fan of the theater department at Matthew J Kuss Middle School! For the last several years, Daniel had been working as a fundraiser for an early childhood literacy organization in Oakland, California.
